Supporting victims of trafficking

Our first project involved collaborating with Hestia Modern Slavery Team. They support victims of trafficking across London and South East. Many of their service users are Muslim and often have no family or friends in the UK. Gift Eid Project wanted to support these victims by providing them gifts on Eid, and making them feel a sense of belonging to the Muslim Community here in London and the South East.

About the project
Starting point

The first step to understand the scope of the project was to learn what the service users at Hestia needed. Given the financial difficulties they'd be in, it was important to understand what these service users would find useful but also not usually be given.

Support from local communities

Location, scale, and accessibility was absolutely crucial to this project. We wanted to make the biggest but most realistic impact to their experience of Eid. We raised money with the communities in London and bought age and gender appropriate gifts for men, women and children.

End result

Contextualising the needs of Hestia's service users enabled us to buy and distribute over 100 gifts as well as supermarket gift cards for Eid.
